Autumn. A time of chilly days, falling leaves… and chapped lips. After the warm sunny days of the summer, Autumn comes as quite a shock to your skin. The summer sun kissed glow fades from your face and all your money is being spent on Chapstick. Here’s a few tips on keeping your skin perf throughout the cold dark days of Autumn…
- Exfoliate using an oil-based scrub – these are fab because they exfoliate and hydrate which is super important in the autumnal dry air – alternatively make your own!! My favourite autumnal face scrub to make is the Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Scrub, from Bath and Body Recipes – here’s the link in case you’d like to try it 🙂 http://www.bathandbodyrecipes.com/bath-and-body-recipes/recipe-829/cinnamon-swirl-coffee-scrub.html
- Aim to drink 2 litres of water a day to keep your lips and skin well hydrated and use a non-petroleum based lip balm to prevent dry and cracked lips.
- Eat anti-‘Autumn Blues’ foods; avocados, beets, chestnuts, grapes, kiwis, oranges, pomegranates, sweet potatoes.
- Exercise! Surprisingly, sweat is good for your skin; releasing toxins and increasing blood flow, it results in a smoother and healthier complexion.
